What is AzBAS?
AzBAS is an informal association of Arizona businesses committed to sustainable practices that promote strong communities, successful businesses, a healthy environment, and sound public policy.
We meet four times a year for the primary purpose of holding in-depth dialogues among participants to share, learn from, challenge and test the sustainability practices that are in place — or in developmental phases — in our companies. The overarching goal is for Arizona businesses to step forward together and grow sustainability concepts and activities in Arizona’s diverse communities.
A one page overview of the organization is available here.
Our primary objectives are:
- to build a platform and statewide venues to showcase sustainable businesses practices adopted by AzBAS;
- to collaborate with other organizations committed to promoting sustainability in Arizona;
- to advance sustainability practices in the public policy arena;
- to convey to the State and its communities that Arizona's business leaders support and encourage progressive, sustainable businesses practices; and
- to serve as a resource — a knowledge base — for others on how to create and adopt sustainable practices in their companies.
AzBAS Mission
"To promote sustainable practices in Arizona that promote strong communities, successful businesses, a healthy environment and sound public policy."
AzBAS defines sustainability as: Sustainable business practices that address current needs in the context of how to support long-term economic vitality, environmental health, and strong communities. Sustainability is not an end state. It is a continuous challenge to be successful today in ways that establish the foundation for a better tomorrow.
